For today’s blog, I want it to be a little different.
If you’ve been here since my very first post, I just want to pause and say thank you. Truly. So many of you have grown with me, not just in your skincare routines, but in your life journeys too. Some of you have messaged me over the years, sharing your struggles, your progress, your small wins. And it’s reminded me that this space has never just been about products or routines.
It’s always been about care, in the deepest sense of the word.
So today, I wanted to step back from the usual and share something more personal. As I turn 40 this May, I’ve been reflecting on the lessons that shaped me. The ones I didn’t learn from books or trends, but from living, breaking, healing, and rebuilding.
Not advice. Just truths I earned along the way, and maybe, something here will meet you exactly where you are, too.
Here are the 11 lessons life taught me before 40.
1. Stop trying to prove your worth
The right people see your value without effort. The wrong ones will keep you chasing validation that never quite comes. The moment you stop proving, you start living more freely.
2. Love without boundaries isn’t love, it’s self-abandonment
There’s a quiet exhaustion that comes from overgiving. Real love includes respect, clarity, and emotional safety. It also includes the strength to walk away when those things are missing.
3. Your body whispers before it screams
So many of us were never taught to listen to our bodies, only to push through. But your body always knows first. Stress shows up on your skin. Hormonal imbalance affects your mood. Fatigue changes everything.
This is where skincare and mental health are deeply connected. When your mind is overwhelmed, your skin often reflects it through breakouts, dullness, and sensitivity. Caring for your skin isn’t just about what you apply; it’s about how you live, how you rest, how you process your emotions. Healthy skin is not just topical. It’s internal, emotional, and holistic.
4. Being strong all the time is not strength
I used to think strength meant handling everything alone. But real strength is softer than that. It’s allowing yourself to be supported. It’s admitting when you’re tired and letting someone help carry the weight.
5. Not everyone deserves access to your energy
Your energy is one of your most valuable resources. Protecting your peace isn’t selfish; it’s necessary. The more you honor this, the more stable and grounded your life becomes.
6. Healing isn’t linear
You don’t “arrive” at a healed version of yourself. You evolve. Some days feel light, others feel heavy, and both are part of the process. Growth happens in layers, not straight lines.
7. Motherhood reveals everything and refines you
Motherhood has a way of showing you every part of yourself that still needs care. It can be confronting, but also deeply transformative. It gives you a reason bigger than yourself to grow, to be patient, to become more intentional in how you show up.
8. You cannot fix people who don’t want to grow
This is one of the hardest lessons. You can love deeply and still not be able to change someone. Growth is a personal decision, and not everyone is ready for it.
9. Your intuition is almost always right
That quiet inner voice is there for a reason. Most of my painful lessons came from ignoring it. Learning to trust yourself changes everything.
10. Life becomes lighter when you stop forcing what isn’t meant for you
There is a different kind of peace that comes from letting go. When you stop forcing, you make space. And what’s meant for you finds its way more naturally than you expect.
11. God is real. Trust Him.
Through every season, the uncertainty, the healing, the waiting, God has been constant. There were moments I didn’t understand what was happening, but looking back, I can see the purpose in every step. Prayer grounded me. Faith carried me. Trusting Him changed me.

And if my 10-year-old self could see me now… She would finally understand that everything she thought was breaking her was actually quietly building her.
And maybe the most surprising part of all, I don’t feel like I’m reaching an end. I feel like I’m just beginning.
If you’ve been reading since the beginning, thank you for allowing me to grow alongside you. And if you’re newer here, I hope this space continues to feel like somewhere you can learn, reflect, and feel supported not just in your skin, but in yourself.
Because skincare was never just about looking better. It’s about feeling better. It’s about creating small daily rituals that bring you back to yourself, mentally, emotionally, and physically.
And that kind of care… changes everything. I also have a wonderful announcement: my very first book has been published!
