I have always believed that sunscreen should do more than simply protect your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays. Especially after 40.

Our skin changes as we age. It becomes drier. We start losing some of the firmness and elasticity we used to have. Fine lines become more noticeable when the skin is dehydrated, and the products that felt fine on our skin at 25 may suddenly make it feel dry, tight, or heavy.

When we talk about aging skin, everyone talks about collagen. But collagen is only part of the story. Our skin also contains elastin, which helps give it that spring and resilience we associate with younger skin. As we age, elastin production decreases, there are fewer healthy elastin fibers, and those fibers become less organized.

Think about the difference between a new elastic band and an old one. The new one stretches and snaps back. Over time, it starts losing that ability. Our skin goes through changes too.

So I told my chemist, I want the sunscreen to be versatile! Had the idea to combine sunscreen and my favorite serum, Peptide. Including peptides to sunscreen combines daily UV defense with anti-aging support, helping to rebuild skin proteins while shielding your face from future UV oxidative stress.

And then we finally found the best one, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-2. This peptide was specifically developed to support the structural components involved in skin firmness. Researchers measured the mechanical properties of their skin and reported a statistically significant 9.5% improvement in one parameter related to skin flaccidity, along with a 23.2% improvement in another measured parameter.

Another study followed 40 women between 40 and 60 years old who already had facial sagging and loss of elasticity. They used formulas containing the peptide twice daily for 56 days, while researchers measured firmness, elasticity and changes in facial contour.

After 56 days, the ingredient study also documented measurable changes in facial contour.

And when the women were asked what they noticed themselves, 95% said their skin appeared more toned and 90% perceived a firming effect in the group using the 2% peptide solution. Amazing, right?
