5 New Year's Skin Resolutions for 2023

5 New Year's Skin Resolutions for 2023

It's been an amazing 365 days for our lives, our careers, our health, and our skin. But with each new year should come some form of improvement and elevation. Holistic wellness doesn't happen overnight, so it's time to say hello to some serious shifts in our health and skincare. That's why I'm here to give you five tips on just how to make the most of 2023.

Adopt a Healthy Lifestyle

Okay, this one seems easier said than done because really, what is a "healthy" lifestyle exactly? With such a broad new year's resolution, it's difficult to know where to begin.

Healthy lifestyle starts with three things: physical, dietary, and mental. Physical refers to improving the condition of your body, incorporating exercise, increasing flexibility and mobility, and conditioning your body in terms of strength and resilience.

Dietary refers to the foods you eat and the supplements you take. It's proven science that diet affects your skin. You can use all the creams and serums you want; if your diet is lacking and high in fats and oils, you can be sure that your skin is going to reflect the same. Swap junk food for leafy greens, sodas and shakes for healthy smoothies and teas, and choose healthy supplements that balance your internal wellness.

Try to stray from vegetable oils, especially seed oils, which are high in unsaturated fats. Most oils except for coconut oils are also carcinogenic when heated so try to look instead for saturated fat sources, like pasture-raised animal fats.

Do your research on keto diets and look into the link between gut and psychology, which is covered in one of my favorite books. You'd be surprised at how much your skin relies on your gut health.

Lastly, mental refers to your state of mind, your thoughts, and your outlook. Adopt thoughts that push you forward, not pull you back. Leave behind unhealthy relationships, find time and space for yourself to meditate and reflect, and treat yourself with love and respect.

Make small shifts every day. Make that your new year's resolution. Because most people shoot for such major shifts only to end up fizzling out weeks later. Pace yourself and make things into habits and you'll see results.

Microneedle Your Way to Beautiful Skin

If you haven't already, it's time to start bringing the microneedler into your life. While there's an incredible amount of skincare solutions on the market, one of the most (if not the most) effective tools out there is the microneedler.

Praised for its wonderful abilities to improve collagen and elastin, microneedling at home has been proven to reduce the appearance of aging by drastically diminishing fine lines and wrinkles, as well as plumping skin and returning volume and luster.

Not sure where to start? Consider Gin Amber Beauty's real-needle dermarollers. These are microneedlers made of the highest quality needles for pinpoint accuracy and unbelievable anti-aging results.

For instance, our client, Angela, swears by our 0.5mm dermaroller, sheet mask, eye cream, and serums. Angela now has more confidence, smiles more, and is enjoying the fruits of a renewed complexion!

Microneedling is a must-have in your arsenal of beauty techniques. Pair it with serums and repair creams and you have a formula for amazing skin that glows with youth and feels amazing.

Hydrate and Moisturize

2023 should be the year that you take hydration seriously. With our bodies being roughly 85% water, when we're dehydrated, our skin tells the tale. While drinking water is paramount to your health, moisturizing your skin is paramount to keeping your skin from drying out, cracking, and becoming irritated.

Invest in a great water filter; I personally love Berkey filters, as they remove toxins, heavy metals, viruses, and other pathogens.

Try shooting for leafy greens in your diet as well, as plenty of hydration can come not only from water intake, but foods you consume.

Pick a healthy moisturizer and try not to wash your face more than twice a day (once, if you're feeling adventurous). You'll begin to see the change in your face after consistent application.

Opt out of hot showers and go for lukewarm water. This will help your skin to not dry out after. Also, always protect your skin. Whether from the cold or the heat, try to wear layers when it's freezing and sunscreen when it's blistering. Your skin will thank you for it.

Go Vegan and Cruelty-Free

Isn't it high-time that the products you chose reflected the type of values you have? Not only are some products on the market toxic and full of harmful chemicals like fragrance and chemicals, plenty of them still test on animals, leaving so many critters with burns, rashes, poisoning, and so much more.

Every product that's vegan/cruelty-free will have labels that express this and Gin Amber Beauty products do too. You may have a favorite product, but remember, everything is energy. Advocating and supporting products that contribute to animal-cruelty on the back-end of production aren't going to make you feel good about your results. It's supporting cruelty for the sake of vanity, and I know you're better than that.

Making healthier choices that support the environment and ecosystem is easy, it boosts your self-confidence, and gives you a sense of value: it let's you know that you're contributing to the world you live in, and sacrificing name brands for products that love the environment more than they love themselves.

And remember, roughly 6.5 million animals enter shelters each year, but only about half are adopted, so consider showing some love and adopting a rescue!

Love Yourself and the Process

Health and skincare go hand in hand. Changes take time and 2023 is the time to let go of expectations. Invigorate your body and your mind but most of all, love yourself and love the process and path you're on. This resolution is about letting go and trusting yourself. Imbue your life with healthy habits because you want to feel good and do good. Sometimes skincare runs deeper than just appearance; sometimes skincare is symbolic for changing those deeper layers and expressing our true selves and confidence.

The process will take you where it's going to take you. Let 2023 be the year of release and the year of deeper changes that reflect your worth. Explore healthier options and fortify your body and mind. In no time at all you'll begin to see your skin transform in ways you've never seen before.
