5 Reasons to Use Vegan Skincare

5 Reasons to Use Vegan Skincare

As the world of beauty and skincare evolves and continues to revolutionize the way we approach our skin's appearance and health, consumers are evolving in much the same way.

Going vegan is an incredibly common trend nowadays, from food to household cleaning products to skincare and beauty, it's easy to see that markets are transitioning to offer vegan and plant-based options to those who are seeking them.

Gin Amber Beauty is proud to state that we are 100% vegan and all of our products reflect this quality. So why go vegan when it comes to skincare? There's a few great reasons why.

It's Cruelty-Free

What does it mean when a product says it's cruelty-free? It means it's never tested on animals. Some of the common ways animal tests are conducted include skin and eye irritation tests where chemicals are rubbed onto the shaved skin or dripped into the eyes of rabbits.

Repeated oral force-feeding studies can last weeks or months to look for signs of general illness or specific health hazards, such as cancer or birth defects.

What are some of the big skincare players that are still testing on animals? Although the following brands claim to be either cruelty-free or committed to transitioning to cruelty-free, they have loopholes in their policies that allow them to test on animals on China:

  • L'Oreal
  • Estée Lauder
  • Maybelline
  • MAC
  • Revlon
  • Chanel
  • Yves Saint Laurent
  • Dior

The list goes on, but it gives a clear indication to how larger brands continue to test on animals.

Having beautiful skin and wearing makeup is a personal endeavor and journey. But our beauty shouldn't inflict harm and suffering towards other life that we share this planet with.

It Helps the Environment

Vegan products are purely plant-based, which means that disposing of skincare products don't release harmful chemicals back into waterways, soil, and air.

You'll see a nifty little word associated with eco-friendly skincare products and that's "sustainable".

Clean beauty is becoming a popular trend, as consumers are shifting towards products that align with their values. That means cruelty-free and eco-friendly. Consumers now want to feel like they're contributing and giving back to the world and communities, and what better way to do this than choose eco-friendly products they can feel good about?

It's Affordable

With so many vegan products on the market, competition is fierce. So by those laws of supply and demand, it's easy to find vegan skincare that fits any budget.

This is why switching to vegan skincare is a no-brainer. Rather than choosing other skincare products that are harmful to animals and the environment, there's no financial difference in selecting vegan options.

No Parabens or Artificial Fragrances

What are parabens? Put simply, parabens are some of the most commonly used chemicals in the skincare industry today and are mainly used as a preservative. These are normally introduced into products to prevent harmful bacteria or mold growth and have good intentions: to protect the consumer. However, they run a high risk for damage to hormones and reproductive health.

Fragrance on the other hand is a unique ingredient that makes products smell as sweet as they do.

But what is fragrance exactly? That's the tricky part. While federal law requires that each ingredient used in personal care products is to be explicitly stated, a fragrance formula is considered proprietary, or a trade secret, to the company who created it, meaning they have no obligation to state what chemicals they're using in their fragrance on product labels, or online.

This means that fragrance can contain any number of carcinogens and harmful, toxic chemicals.

Vegan skincare is free of parabens and fragrance, which makes it an excellent move for your overall health and lowers risks of unhealthy side effects and diseases.

Amazing Source of Antioxidants

Lastly, vegan skincare is loaded with antioxidants and vitamins that boost health and wellness. As plant-based products, they're also great for people with sensitive skin, considering that most synthetic chemicals and harmful toxins are removed that might pose as irritants to those with more reactive skin.

The Takeaway

While there are plenty of great skincare options out there, isn't it high-time that the products you use for your wellness and beauty reflect the values and integrity you hold for your environment?

Going vegan over other brands that aren't might seem like a daunting task, but it's pretty simple. Just look for that "sustainable" and "cruelty-free" label and do your research into some of your favorite brands that might already be going eco-friendly.

Gin Amber Beauty is 100% vegan, cruelty-free, and always non-toxic and checking out our store and products is as easy as clicking here.

    Hi,
I just purchased the .5 microneedle roller with the repair serum and the mystery box. However, I’m a beginner. Should I have purchased the .25 microneedle instead? I received a .75 microneedle in my mystery box. I’m not sure if I should be using these as a beginner. Do you have any suggestions?
    Thank you! Aixa.
